Done Deal: Manchester City sign Ilkay Gundogan for £21m

Manchester City has finally got their preseason recruitment under way and confirmed the signing of Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan, 25, for an initial £21m transfer fee.

New manager Pep Guardiola has been trailing Gundogan for his new look City side for weeks, and despite the players injury has finally landed his man.

Gundogan is currently injured, following surgery for a dislocated kneecap that has ruled him out of Euro 2016.

Germany international Gundogan has been drawing plaudits from around Europe for years at Borussia Dortmund, last season being heavily linked with a move to City rivals Manchester United and recently under his former manager Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool.

The player went on to say about his move, ‘When I learned of City’s interest my heart was set on coming here and things have moved very quickly. I have loved my time with Borussia Dortmund and I would like to thank the club.
