RB Leipzig do not want to lose their star striker, Timo Werner. And they are willing to do whatever it takes to keep the Germany international for as long as they can in the squad.
Werner has been attracting interest from several top sides such as Liverpool and Real Madrid, and it has been confirmed Los Blancos will pursue the Germany international during the summer transfer window. But Leipzig do not want to lose him, and are set to enter talks with the star forward in the coming days.
Werner might make the smart choice and remain at Leipzig at least for one more year. He has a guaranteed first-team place in the team and will gather enough playing time to make himself available for the World Cup. Based on his recent form, Werner has all but guaranteed a World Cup spot in Die Mannschaft if he can stay fit.
Werner has emerged as one of the Bundesliga’s biggest talents since joining Leipzig from Stuttgart in 2016. The attacker has netted 28 goals in 41 league games, while adding four in 10 Champions League and DFB Pokal matches. He also has seven goals in 10 matches for Germany, so he is proven in the international stage as well.
The 21-year-old striker is under contract until 2020, but Leipzig know his value could rise considerably if he performs well at the World Cup next year. So even though a transfer seems inevitable, Leipzig want to keep Werner as long as they can in order to gain maximum profit off him.
