Mario Mandzukic is reportedly set to leave Juventus during the January transfer window, according to a report from Sky Sports in Italy. The former Croatia international could be one of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s target as Manchester United want to bolster their attacking depth next January.
Prying Mandzukic won’t be easy, though. The Croatian striker already rejected moves to United, PSG and Qatar this past summer. But things might change in January, especially considering Mandzukic is yet to play for the Serie A giants this term.
For what is worth, Solskjaer said United will try to sign a striker during January although it remains to be seen whether Mandzukic will be a target or not.
“You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to know it’s a forward we’re going to try to recruit next time,” Solskjaer said. “We’re looking for some creativity and goals, but they [potential signings] have to be the right one. There were strikers available [in the summer] but not the ones we wanted. We couldn’t get the one we wanted.”
Reports have also claimed that Solskjaer is an admirer of young Norwegian starlet Erling Braut Haaland, who has enjoyed a torrid start to the campaign with RB Salzburg. But he would be considerably more expensive than Mandzukic or any other options available.
