Tiemoue Bakayoko was never able to adjust to life at Chelsea and was quickly sent out on loan one year after joining the Stamford Bridge outfit in 2017 for a fee close to €50 million. However, he has looked absolutely impressive at AC Milan this season, and has had stretches where he has looked on the same level as the dominant box-to-box midfielder he was back in Monaco before his Premier League switch.

His performances for Milan have been so good, that the Serie A giants are eager to make his stay at San Siro a permanent one. This isn’t the first time Milan’s intentions are reported, but they’re getting closer and closer to become a reality. Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport claimed they are still keen to make it happen.

The biggest hurdle will be what Chelsea wants, and the amount of money Milan are willing to pay for the French midfielder. The Blues are keen to part ways with Bakayoko, but they are not going to give him away for free. And Milan do not have a huge budget to spend on him – or any player, really – since they’re being closely watched due to the Financial Fair Play regulations.

In any case, both teams will need to reach an agreement. Bayakoyo wants to stay at Milan, the team wants to sign him on a permanent deal, and Chelsea are keen to let him go.

He has so far made 25 appearances in all competition for the Italian giants, and hasn’t scored a single goal thus far.
