Danny Welbeck is set to become Arsenal’s first high-profile departure under Unai Emery, according to talkSPORT. And Turkish Super Lig club Besiktas are monitoring his situation.

The England striker is currently with Gareth Southgate’s squad preparing for Russia and won’t meet the Spaniard until his World Cup is over. One of the first discussions will be over the 27-year-old’s contract which expires in 2019.

Along with Aaron Ramsey, 27, Welbeck rejected Arsenal’s initial approach to begin talks over a new deal, preferring to wait until the end of the season. With Arsene Wenger who wanted him to stay now departed, does the new manager still feel the same way?

Reports in the Turkish media claim the Black Eagles are looking to bring the England forward to Istanbul as a replacement for Manchester United-bound Talisca, 24, whose two-year loan spell from Benfica ended last week.

Fotospor claims the dethroned champions are unperturbed by Welbeck’s record of just five goals in 28 mainly substitute appearances in the Premier League this season. Since moving to the Emirates in 2014, injuries interrupted his career on a regular basis. In that time, he has managed 112 appearances with 27 games to his name.

With the Gunners playing hardball with Jack Wilshere, 25, over a ‘pay as you play’ style deal, is Welbeck in the same boat?
