Real Madrid have been preparing for a potential departure of Cristiano Ronaldo in the near future.
Legal battles, contract disputes, and reports indicating that the Portuguese star wants to return to England have put Los Merengues on alert, and losing their star player has suddenly become a real possibility. So with that in mind, Real Madrid have prepared a three-man shortlist to replace the Portuguese star leave the Bernabeu in the near future, reports the Daily Mirror.
And unsurprisingly, the list include three youngsters who are believed to be “the next big thing” in football. We are talking about PSG‘s Gonçalo Guedes, who is currently impressing on loan at Valencia, Gremio midfielder Lincoln, and 17-year-old Palmeiras prospect Alan Souza.
It is believed that Real Madrid have already started talks with Alan Souza, as the talented prospect is currently playing with the Brazilian National Team on the U17 World Cup but could be close to complete a move to Santiago Bernabeu to join them after his 18th birthday, on a similar note to Flamengo’s prospect Vinicius Junior who already sealed his move to La Casa Blanca.
Guedes is the more experienced one and is currently dazzling for Valencia, but PSG are very high on him and are not likely to sell him to a direct rival on the Champions League. And while Lincoln is loaded with talent, he appears a bit behind the other two targets in Florentino Perez’s shortlist.
Paulo Dybala is another option for Real but will probably command a huge fee should he leave Juventus next summer. And that’s something Real are not keen to pay at the moment.
