Luka Jovic has been tearing the Bundesliga up with Eintracht Frankfurt. And now the Serbian striker is expected to take a huge step in his career.
According to a report from German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine, the Bundesliga top scorer, who’s on loan at Eintracht Frankfurt from Benfica, is set to sign for Barcelona. The Liga giants have been looking for a long-term replacement for Luis Suarez, and it seems Jovic checks all the boxes.
He’s young, prolific, and could be considerable cheaper than other alternatives in the market. Plus, if he adjusts to Barcelona, then Los Blaugranas could have a reliable striker for around 10 to 12 years since he’s only 21. Apparently there’s already an agreement in place between the Serbian and the reigning Liga champions, but nothing has been confirmed or announced.
Furthermore, the La Liga leaders have seen off competition from Real Madrid to sign the Serbia forward, who had also been reported to be interesting Bayern Munich and Chelsea. But Barca have been able to snap him up and, even though there’s no official word from either side, all signs point to him moving to the Camp Nou in the near future.
This season alone, Jovic has scored 14 goals with four assists in 19 Bundesliga matches, while adding five more goals in six Europa League appearances.
