One of the biggest stories during the January transfer window was the potential departure of Chelsea’s youngster Callum Hudson-Odoi. The highly-touted prospect was linked with a move to Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich, but the move never panned out and the 18-year-old remains at Stamford Bridge. At least for now.
According a report from Goal, the defending German champions will return for the talented winger in the summer. That’s according to their CEO, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, who has commented that he is convinced the Chelsea teenager is the right fit for the club. But for now, Chelsea hasn’t given an inch of hope on their approach.
“I guess [Bayern sporting director] Hasan [Salihamidzic] is a bit like [club president] Uli [Hoeness],” Rummenigge said. “We also had transfers in the past that didn’t work at the first attempt but at the second. And that’s what we will work on now.
“To lay down a marker costs money. We want the best quality players here at Bayern and Hasan is absolutely convinced of that player.”
Maurizio Sarri managed to keep the winger at Stamford Bridge despite all the rumours around him, but who knows what might happen in a few months? For what is worth, the 18-year-old winger has made 11 appearances in all competitions this season. And he’ll need to play far more if he wants to stop considering a move abroad like he did this past month.
