It’s not a secret that Real Madrid have been looking to bolster their attacking depth following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo. Los Merengues are keen to add a striker that can become the long-term replacement of Karim Benzema. And according to recent reports, Los Blancos have added another name to their shortlist.
Spanish radio programme El Partido de la Una claims the reigning European champions are interested in Genoa hotshot Krzysztof Piatek. Piatek has taken the Serie A by storm during the 2018/19 campaign and is widely considered as one of the most prolific forwards in Europe during the current term.
The numbers don’t lie: with 13 goals in 19 league matches, he is currently the league’s second top scorer behind Cristiano Ronaldo. However, if Madrid want him, then they must move quickly since several other top sides are looking at the Polish, who’s already been dubbed as “the new Robert Lewandowski”. However, Real Madrid are believed to be leading the race to sign him.
The aforementioned radio programme claims, however, that Real Madrid would only want to bring Krzysztof Piatek on loan until the end of the season. The 23-year-old is wanted as a short-term upgrade to Los Blancos’ attack, whereas his long-term future would then be decided at the end of the campaign.
