Bayern Munich has captured Schalke’s highly-rated winger Leon Goretzka, according to Marca.

The 22-year-old German international has agreed terms and will move to FC Hollywood next summer as the Bundesliga champions-elect begin to remodel their successful squad.

Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben are likely to leave the club at the end of the season with Goretzka set to replace them on the flanks. Injuries curtailed appearances by both of the club’s elder statesmen and new coach Jupp Heynckes was to breathe new life into his squad, to stop complacency setting in.

Barcelona and a host of English Premier League clubs followed the player this season with Arsenal and Liverpool particularly keen on signing one of Europe’s hottest young talents. He has this time, elected to stay in his homeland and join the dominant force in German football.

His decision robs Schalke of any chance of grabbing a fee for their prodigy whom they signed in 2013 from VfL Bochum in a €4m deal. Since then, he has gone on to make 130 appearances for the Gelsenkirchen club, as well as being capped by Germany 12 times. He scored 6 goals this year for Die Mannschaft and is expected to be an important member of the World Cup finals squad in Russia.
