Manchester United’s summer spending spree is set to continue with the signing of Monaco right back, Fabinho, 22.
Jose Mourinho worked with the Brazilian whilst at Real Madrid and is confident that his experience in Portugal, Spain and France will stand him in good stead at Old Trafford.
A major clear-out is on the cards at United with Mourinho stating that he wants to work with a core of 24 players this season. Reviewing the defence, the Portuguese has been concerned by the reliance on callow youth and is set to loan out a number of youngsters to gain experience.
Having signed Eric Bailly, 23, already, he is looking to remodel the back four and Fabinho has an energetic style which will augment the United attack. His attacking verve was rewarded with eight goals last season, a high return for a defender.
Fabinho’s agent Jorge Mendes is close to Mourinho and it’s believed, will smooth a path for the Premier League giants to sign the full back.
Capped four times by Brazil, he was an unused member of their Copa America Centenario squad this summer. A move to Old Trafford and a high profile club will press his claims for a place in the starting line-up.
