Arsenal are the ‘go to’ club if a bidding war is needed; the Gunners discretion allows plenty of scope for innuendo and skulduggery on the part of more ruthless and indiscreet agents and clubs.
Signing Udinese’s 21-year-old midfielder Jakub Jankto is on Arsene Wenger’s ‘to do’ list, according the player’s agent as he looks to hype a deal out of nothing. The Premier League giants are keen to take the Czech Republic international to north London despite having a surplus of midfielders already.
Jack Wilshere, 25, has returned to training already while Santi Cazorla, 32, is taking a slower route to the first team. However, the former is likely to be sold this summer while the latter has proven worryingly injury-prone over the last two seasons.
The former Sparta Prague midfielder is most likely heading for English football according to his agent. Beppe Riso, quoted in the Evening Standard, believes Jankto is a “lover of English football” and that will be a decisive factor, despite interested from Juventus and Internazionale.
Some sensible advice followed, in a move which could cost Riso commission on Jankto’s sale. The midfielder is, he said, “young, he’s 21-years-old, he must be calm and is only thinking of Udinese”.
That’s until he dreams of scoring the winner against Tottenham…
