The English media is reporting this morning that a deal is likely to be completed in the next forty-eight hours with The Sun quoting a “top Juventus source” as stating the “deal has been done”.
A fee of £112m has been agreed and the latest sticking point of Pogba’s agent’s fees, has been settled with United picking up £20m the estimated £24m bill to Mino Raiola. It leaves Juventus with £92m which will help fund the purchase of Gonzalo Higuain, 28, from Napoli.
Late interest from Real Madrid threatened to scupper the move but Juventus have been talking to the Premier League giants for several weeks over the deal. Real reportedly want to include players in exchange but the Italian champions were only interested in a cash deal.
With United set to complete their pre-season preparations in the United States, it’s expected that Pogba will join them and have his medical there.
Jose Mourinho plans to give the French international his debut at Wembley when his side face Premier League champions Leicester City in the Community Shield, English football’s annual curtain-raiser next month.
