One of the positions PSG always looked to strengthen during the recently-ended transfer window was left back. The departure of Yuri Berchiche left Layvin Kurzawa as the team’s lone natural left-back alternative, and there is no question the team needed at least one more player to add depth on the position.

The player PSG always wanted during the transfer window was Alex Sandro, who currently plays for Juventus. The Old Lady did not want to part ways with the former FC Porto star and the Brazilian remains with the Serie A champions, but the their Ligue 1 counterparts are not done pursuing the Brazilian.

PSG could have a chance to acquire the talented wing-back, though. Sandro’s current deal expires in 2020 and Juventus are yet to make an approach to extend the link between both parties; that could suggest the team is already preparing for life without him. Plus, they also signed Joao Cancelo and he should be a more-than-adequate insurance policy for the Brazilian.

The 27-year-old defender is entering the prime of his career and is considering as one of the top defenders in Europe, but he brings so much more to the table. He is versatile enough to play on a more advanced role if needed, and could represent a legit upgrade over Kurzawa on both sides of the ball.

PSG did not sign any major name during the past summer and some suggest their “reign” on the transfer market could be coming to an end. Without a doubt, signing Sandro would change that.
