Paulinho Reportedly Has Offer To Join FC Barcelona This Summer

It is not a secret that FC Barcelona want to improve their midfield for the upcoming season. Names like Marco Verratti and Miralem Pjanic have been mentioned in rumours over the past few days, but another player could be closer to land at Camp Nou in the near future.

According to a report from ESPN, Brazilian midfielder Paulinho is one of the names Barcelona have expressed interest in over the past few weeks. But talks have progressed nicely, and the player himself confirmed there’s an offer on the table for him to join Los Blaugranas.

Paulinho has played for Tottenham Hotspur in the past, but after failing to secure a regular role in the English Premier League, he’s been featuring for Guangzhou Evergrande in the Chinese Super League. He’s also a key piece in the Brazil National Team, especially after Tite took over as the manager.

Paulinho told GloboEsporte that both parties are talking regarding a potential transfer, but at the same time he expressed he’s happy in China and how things are in his life right now.

There’s been contact with my agent. There’s an offer [from Barca], it’s true, and the two parties are talking. I’m really proud that a great club like Barcelona are interested in my situation — there is no price for that,” he said.

At the moment I’m really happy with my life and with my career,” he added. When you’re in a situation like the one I’m in, it’s difficult to make a decision. There are a lot of things that I have to weigh up, one of them being my happiness. I think, first of all, the way things are with my partner here in China… We really like where we are, the people, how things are with the club, the success… The truth is that I don’t know [what to do],” he finished.

On top of that, Guangzhou’s manager Luiz Felipe Scolari said the team is not looking to sell their star midfielder, so there might be no an easy path to end this situation.

Everything is in Barcelona’s and Paulinho’s hands now. But the offer and the interest is there, so don’t be surprised if the Brazilian becomes Barcelona’s latest signing in the coming weeks.
