According to the Daily Express, the 25-year-old is rated so highly by Jose Mourinho that he is ready to offer the Brazilian midfielder a weekly wage of £290,000 giving him parity with Paul Pogba, 25.
Casemiro was an integral member of the Real Madrid squad which won three Champions League and a La Liga title in the past four seasons. Mourinho was in charge at Real Madrid when the Brazil international arrived at the club although it was Carlo Ancelotti who initially promoted him to the first team squad.
Despite his sterling work for Real, Brazil has yet to truly appreciate Casemiro. After making his debut in 2011, he’s earned just 18 caps but isn’t considered a first-choice member of the Selecao at present.
The biggest hurdle Manchester United face is persuading Real to sell. Paris St Germain tried during the last transfer window but the Spanish champions were unwilling to listen to their offers.
Zinedine Zidane considers Casemiro to be a key part of his future plans and is likely to resist any attempts to offload the player, particularly to a club capable of usurping Los Merengues on the European stage.
