United Offer Zlatan New Contract Despite 2/1 MLS Summer Move

Manchester United are set to offer Zlatan Ibrahimovic a new contract.

The 35-year-old Swede is recovering quicker than the club expected from the knee injury suffered against Anderlecht in the Europa League quarter-final last season. A new video posted on social media showed him undergoing a rigorous workout as he seeks to return to football.

Signed on a free transfer last summer, the mercurial striker netted 28 goals in his 46 appearances for the Red Devils before his season ended prematurely. United boss Jose Mourinho is impressed with the Swede’s rehabilitation and his determination to resume his playing career.

The pair worked together in Milan at Internazionale and with United returning to the Champions League this season, Mourinho is keen to keep the experienced Swede at the club.

Off to a flying start in the Premier League with back-to-back 4 – 0 wins over West Ham United and Swansea City, expectations are high for the former Champions League winners. After spending three years in the doldrums following Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement, supporters are impatient for a return to what they consider their rightful place at the top of the game.

Earlier in the summer, there was interest in signing Zlatan from LA Galaxy. Despite nothing concrete emerging, a switch to the MLS is 2/1 with bookmakers. Will United’s offer change that outcome?
