Barcelona have always been one of the most active teams when it comes to scouting the South American market. And while there’s no official confirmation yet, the Catalan giants are details away from signing one of the most talented, up-and-coming players from Brazil.
According to a report from Spanish outlet Marca, the Catalan heavyweights are inching closer to signing Vitao, 19, and the central defender will reportedly join Barcelona B in order to gain some much-needed first-team action. Something he would probably lack had he join the Liga squad altogether.
Vitao, who’s also known as Vitor Eduardo, comes from Palmeiras but he might join the Barcelona. Los Blaugranas are also making a push to acquire another Palmeiras youngster, Candido, in what would potentially be a combined deal worth €20 million.
It is believed that Candido, who operates as a left-back but can play all over the left side of the pitch, would also join Barca B. However, there’s a chance both players get loaned out for the entire 2019-20 season in order to gain experience elsewhere.
Barcelona have long been acquiring prodigious players from South America – Arthur being the last example – and moves for Vitao and Candido go in line with their club policy of rejuvenating the current squad and investing for the future.
