Loris Karius’s time at is reportedly set to come to an end. And unless things take a dramatic change, he is all but set to make a move to Turkey where he will be far and away from all the critics in England after his disastrous performance in the UEFA Champions League a few months ago.
The German goalkeeper, who lost his place in the starting XI after the arrival of Alisson during the transfer period this summer, is now details away from joining Besiktas in the Turkish Super League. The negotiations between both parties were first reported by the Mirror.
It is expected that Karius will complete his move to Besiktas in the coming days and the deal would be a season-long loan, although Besiktas would have the chance make it a permanent acquisition if both parties agree. Besiktas certainly need a goalkeeper following Fabri’s departure to Fulham.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp “is ready to let the distraught keeper leave Anfield,” and negotiations with Besiktas are ongoing. If Karius ends up leaving, then Simon Mignolet would likely stay as Liverpool’s backup to Alisson. Mignolet was linked with a move to Napoli, but the Belgian seems set to spend another year at Anfield despite his lack of playing time.
The 25-year-old has been with Liverpool since the 2016-17 season.
