Rumour: Arsenal latest club linked £26m rated Carlos Bacca

AC Milan striker Carlos Bacca, 29, is set to leave the club with Arsenal being offered the Colombian’s services for a fee of £26m.

The player turned down a move to West Ham earlier in the summer as he is determined to play Champions League football. With Arsenal in the hunt for a new striker to provide competition for Olivier Giroud, 29, Milan have tried to lure the north London club into negotiations.

A proposed takeover by Chinese investors is becoming protracted and the promised transfer funds are not being made available to manager Vincenzo Montella. To strengthen his squad, the former Italian international has been told he must sell first.

The French international rediscovered his form and was reportedly going to be a makeweight in a deal to take Napoli’s Argentine international Gonzalo Higuain, 27, to the Gunners. However, Giroud’s agent has refuted these claims, stating that his client has no intention of leaving the club.

Bacca, with 20 goals in 42 appearances for the Italians last season, isn’t seen by Arsenal supporters as much of an upgrade on Giroud and talk of the Gunners making a move hasn’t been warmly received.

However, it continued his record of scoring a goal every other game since moving to Europe in 2011. Bacca was previously with Bruges and Sevilla.

The Colombian international was a member of the squad which finished third in this summer’s Copa America Centenario, scoring the winner in the Third Place Play-Off against the USA.
