Premier League champions, Chelsea, expect to complete deals which will see Romelu Lukaku return to Stamford Bridge.
The Independent reports the Blues are set to land the Belgian international, having failed to land the striker last summer. A fee in excess of £80m, making Lukaku the most expensive transfer between English clubs, is likely, with some outlets suggesting a world record will be set.
Personal terms are already agreed between the player and the west London club, paving the way for quick negotiations with Everton.
Chelsea sold the player to West Bromwich Albion for £28m three years ago, after he made just 15 appearances for the Blues without scoring. Still only 24, the Belgian has scored 20 goals or more in each of the past three seasons at Everton.
Ronald Koeman struck a deal with him in 2016 as Chelsea and Juventus circled, that Lukaku would stay for a season longer. He has kept his promise but is desperate for Champions League football. This summer is likely to see him leave Goodison Park.
While claims that Everton would prefer Manchester United to firm up their interest, allowing the Toffees to bring Chris Smalling into the deal, a sale to bitter rivals wouldn’t sit well with the Gwladys Street End.
