Juventus are planning an audacious bid for Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez, 27.
The Chilean has been in sparkling form for his country during the Copa América Centenario. La Roja thrashed Mexico 7 – 0 in last night’s quarter-final and are finding their form just at the right time with Sanchez a driving force in attack.
The striker endured a frustrating time last season. On a high after Chile’s Copa America victory, he was rushed back to first team action too soon by Arsene Wenger and suffered injury problems as Arsenal stumbled into second place.
The north London club were seen by many as title favourites at the turn of the year and were top of the Premier League before falling away badly in the spring. Despite winning two FA Cups at the club, the absence of a Premier League winners medal and continued failure in Europe have left the Chilean frustrated.
Wenger is looking to strengthen his squad this summer and has already added Granit Xhaka, 24, whilst the move for Jamie Vardy, 29, hangs in the balance with the England striker not announcing his decision until after Euro 2016.
Juventus are prepared to meet Arsenal’s €55m valuation of the player and take him back to Serie A where he spent three successful seasons with Udinese.
