One of the most prolific strikers outside of the top-five European league is Bas Dost. The Sporting CP star has been tearing the Portuguese league up ever since he joined the side from Wolfsburg, but he could be on his way back to a top team during the upcoming transfer.
According to a report from Portuguese daily newspaper Record, it seems as if AC Milan are on the hot trail of the former Dutch international who retired from the national team stage a few weeks ago.
Dost would seem to check all the boxes for AC Milan. The Serie A side is looking for a proven striker heading into the 2018-19 as they will once again play in the UEFA Europa League, and they are keen to make a move for the 28-year-old Dutch. Especially since this summer’s adquisitions – Andre Silva and Nikola Kalinic – did not work out as expected.
The aforementioned report indicated that Bost would be Milan’s top target, although they are expected to target other alternatives in case Dost decides to stay put at Sporting for one more season. But the first contacts between both parties have already been made, and Milan hope to wrap up the deal as soon as possible.
Dost has been in stunning form since joining Sporting CP back in 2016, registering 61 goals in equal number of appearances.
