Edinson Cavani has been linked with a move away from PSG for quite a while now. His bad relationship with Neymar, the emergence of Kylian Mbappe and the fact that he now has a lesser role on the side have been all mentioned as factors for his potential departure of the Ligue 1 absences.

And while several teams have already expressed interest in a move for him, most notably Chelsea and Napoli, another alternative are Atletico Madrid. Los Colchoneros are reportedly decided to make a move for the Uruguay international and while a January move seems unlikely, they will certainly postpone their efforts until next summer.

Atletico do have an edge over some of the other sides contending for his signature, though. Cavani wants to move elsehwere, is keen on a new challenge, and he would be open to the possibility of playing for Simeone. It remains to be seen how much PSG would ask in order to let Cavani leave, but recent reports have indicated that the Ligue 1 champions would accept around €50million.

The 31-year-old has been quite a productive player for PSG. He joined the Ligue 1 giants in 2013 and has already netted 181 goals in 261 appearances for them across all competitions. This season, Cavani has 10 goals in 10 league appearances during the current term.
