AS Roma were one of the most active teams in the summer transfer market, but it seems they are not done dealing and are already looking at potential reinforcements ahead of the January transfer window.
The Italian heavyweights want to keep adding pieces recommended by former Sevilla transfer guru, Monchi, who now oversees the team as the club’s sporting director, and his latest target would be in Portugal. He goes by the name of Hector Herrera, according to Corriere dello Sport.
For those who are not aware of who Herrera is, the talented Mexican midfielder is one of the most versatile, consistent midfielders all over Europe, and is a key piece for both FC Porto and Mexico. Adding Herrera could potentially allow Roma to close the gap with Juventus, since he would add some much-needed quality and stamina to a midfield core that lost Radja Nainggolan this past summer.
The 28-year-old is out of contract next summer and has already generated plenty of interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs. AS Roma re hoping to lure Herrera to Rome and install him as a direct replacement for Kevin Strootman, who left for Marseille this summer. Will they complete the move for the talented Mexican playmaker?
