Ivan Perisic spent the majority of the summer linked with a potential move to Manchester United. However, Inter Milan were reluctant to sell their talented winger since The Red Devils failed to meet their asking price and in the end, Perisic stayed at the Giuseppe Meazza side.
And now it turns out Perisic will stay at Inter for a longer period than originally expected. According to a report that was confirmed in the club’s official Twitter account, Perisic extended his current deal until the summer of 2022. His previous deal would have ended in 2020.
Perisic told Inter’s official website: “It’s a special day for me, an emotional and happy one after the stress of the summer. Now we are all looking forward and I’m only thinking about Inter.
“For a long time I kept my counsel, and now I can say that [head coach Luciano] Spalletti told me that I could be an even better version of myself here. We’ve done well in the first two matches of the season and we need to continue that way.”
Perisic joined Inter from Wolfsburg in 2015, and quickly became one of the team’s most important players during the rebuilding period they have gone through over the past few years.
He is a vital part of the attack alongisde other talented players such as Joao Mario and Mauro Icardi. And his decision to extend that deal comes after Inter’s manager Luciano Spalletti said the 28-year-old is one of the key members of his squad.
Perisic contributed with 11 goals and 11 assists in 36 appearances for the Neroazzurri side last term. He has 21 goals and 21 assists in 80 appearances for Inter since his arrival, and has also added 56 caps and 16 goals with the Croatia National Team.
