It is not a secret that the left-back role is one of the weakest spots in Barcelona‘s current squad this season.
Even though Jordi Alba is a quality starting choice and Lucas Digne is a more-than-adequate replacement, it feels as if Los Blaugranas could have a better alternative out there. And based on recent reports, they would be testing the market looking to strengthen that role this next summer.
In fact, a report from Catalan daily newspaper Sport has suggested that the Camp Nou outfit is reportedly keen to submit a summer bid for PSG defender Layvin Kurzawa. The 25-year-old has alternated in and out of the starting XI in both PSG and the French national team, and would be keen to find a bit more stability. Plus, he would represent an upgrade over Digne and could challenge Alba for the starting spot.
In fact, The Catalans have not been satisfied with Digne’s performances this season, and are reportedly planning to let him go at the end of the current campaign. He has failed to live up to the hype, and has represented a substantial weakening in comparison to Alba.
According to reports, Barcelona plan to start the bidding at €25 million, but chances are PSG will be holding out for more.
