The 24-year-old is surplus to requirements at the Camp Nou with Unai Emery keen to reunite with a midfielder he signed at Sevilla.
Speaking after the Gunners 3 – 0 win at Blackpool in the FA Cup third round, Emery said:
“If we have the possibility to sign some important players, we can do it. At left or right wing, perhaps one player can help us in this position. We will only sign players who give us quality.
“He played like a left or right winger when he was with me at Sevilla”.
The deal, according to the Spanish report, is a loan for the remainder of the season with the option to make the move permanent in July. It’s claimed Arsenal will fall foul of Financial Fair Play regulations should they add to their wage bill.
However, signing Suarez will allow the north London club to accept an early release for Aaron Ramsey, 28, who leaves the Emirates Stadium this summer. Both PSG and Juventus indicated a willingness to strike a cut-price deal this month for the Wales international.
Suarez, 24, was omitted from the Barcelona squad which won at Getafe this weekend. It’s a move which will save the Catalans £800,000 in an instalment payable for the midfielder’s transfer fee to Manchester City, relating to the Spain international’s move to the Camp Nou in 2013.
