It was not a secret that Juventus spent the majority of last summer trying to bolster their midfield corps. Even though they clinched a move to sign Blaise Matuidi from PSG, The Old Lady wanted more. And they might get a massive reinforcement for the 2018-19 season.
According to a report from TuttoSport, Juventus are reportedly planning to make a move for Andres Iniesta. The FC Barcelona playmaker has been loyal to Los Blaugranas during his entire career, but he has been thinking about a possible move away from Camp Nou stadium in recent weeks considering the situation the club is going through.
If he were to leave his beloved club, there is no doubt Juventus would be a great destination. The Serie A giants are one of the top teams in Europe, and made it to the UEFA Champions League final last season. Moving to Italy would allow him to play on a competitive environment while also taking care of his fitness, just like Andrea Pirlo did a few years ago when he chose to join Juventus as well.
Several things would need to happen for the move to be completed, though. Iniesta would have to reject any extension offers until January, and he would have to agree to a contract with Juventus in the first month of 2018. And there are no guarantees of any of those two things happening.
But Juventus’ interest is real. And that’s enough to make them a serious contender to (possibly) land of the best midfielders the world has seen in the past 15 years.
