Man City agree deal with Aymeric Laporte

Manchester City have agreed personal terms with Aymeric Laporte, 21, and will now look to trigger the £39m release clause at Athletic Bilboa.

Defender Laporte has been scouted by Manchester United and Arsenal but it is Man City and new boss Pep Guardiola who have made the first move.

The young Athletic player is regarded as one of European footballs most talented defensive prospects, having signed for Bilboa when he was 16 making 109 appearances for the club.

With City agreeing personal terms all is left is to agree transfer fees with Athletic Bilboa. The club are notoriously difficult negotiators, with players only leaving when their release clause is met in full.

Laporte will line up alongside Vincent Kompany in Guardiolas’ new look Manchester City defence next season.
